Tibet - Shegar to Rongphu
Shegar is a small town 10km off the Friendship Highway (be prepared to argue with the guides/drivers that Shegar isn't the truck stop and couple of hotels on the highway!) after you come down from Gyamtso La. Just after Shegar you turn off the highway for Rongphu and Everest, this is a rough road with spectacular views of the main Himalayan range from Pang La (5150m) before heading along a river valley with several villages towards Everest.
