Yúnnán
Yúnnán is a large province in the South Western corner of China with a large number of minority groups and much in common with the bordering South East Asian nations. This gallery contains images from Dàlĭ and Lìjiāng in the north western corner of Yúnnán.
Despite the number of domestic tourists, Lìjiāng is a relaxing old town of canals and traditional architecture, largely by populated by the Naxi minority group, in a beautiful valley at the foot of 5596m Yùlóng Xuĕ Shān (Jade Dragon Snow Mountain). The beauty of the region has led to it being known as Shangrila within China.
Dàlĭ, on the banks of a large lake, Ěrhăi Hú, is legendary within the backpacker crowd as a place to chill-out from the rigours of Chinese travel. Whatever your reaction to this crowd and the town itself, there is no doubt that the surrounding countryside, with the lake and mountain backdrop, is a good place to relax and explore.
