Bosten Lake Ice Festival

Bosten Lake is 57km North East of Korla and at 1000 square kilometers the largest freshwater lake in Xīnjiāng. In summer the lake supports a major fishing industry and a developing tourist industry, winter however, brings a thick layer of ice to the lake bringing opportunities for winter sports.

The photographs in this gallery were all taken during the ice sculpture festival that takes place each winter around Chinese New Year/Spring Festival.
